WooCommerce storefronts that don't look like WooCommerce.

Editorial WooCommerce design for brands that want a real storefront — PDP, PLP, search, checkout, account — designed for conversion, not stock theme aesthetics. Brand-true type, motion, and photography across every step of the buying journey.

What is WooCommerce design?

WooCommerce design is the editorial design practice for WooCommerce stores — PDP, PLP, cart, checkout, and account flows shaped around brand and conversion. Treated as a design system rather than theme decoration, it keeps every product page on brand and every checkout converting.

Why this exists

Storefront design is where most brands quietly underdeliver.

The home page gets the love; the storefront gets a stock theme. PDP and PLP carry most of the conversion responsibility and most of them look like the WooCommerce default. We design WooCommerce storefronts the way other agencies design home pages — bespoke type and grid, art-directed photography, tested patterns at each conversion gate. The shopper notices. The numbers do too.

What we hear most

Common storefront design failures.

01

PDP is a Storefront child theme

Variants on the right, gallery on the left, default 'Add to cart'. The brand voice that lives on the home page evaporates the moment a shopper enters a product page.

02

PLP feels like a search result

Cards stacked in a grid with no editorial shape. No collection storytelling, no merchandising slots, no prioritisation of the products you want to sell.

03

Search experience is the WordPress default

Slow, unfaceted, ranking by date. Search abandonment is high. Conversion from search-bar users is meaningfully below the rest of the site.

04

Checkout is a fight

Six fields too many. No saved-card path. Apple Pay or Google Pay missing. Visible error states are inconsistent. Mobile checkout drops conversion sharply.

05

Account area looks abandoned

Once a customer is signed in, the brand voice disappears. Order history, subscription management, and account settings feel like they belong to a different company.

06

Mobile design is an afterthought

70% of traffic is mobile and the site was designed desktop-first. Buttons too small, type too tight, gallery interactions assume a hover state.

Process

How this service runs end to end

The same six-step shape we use across every Haxtiv project — adapted to the specifics of this scope.

  1. 01

    Discover

Audit, intent, and the part nobody is saying out loud

We open with a working session — not a deck. We pull analytics, crawl the existing site, audit the brand, and interview the people closest to revenue. We surface the friction inside the team, not just the friction on the screen.

  2. 02

    Define

Sitemap, story, and the metrics that actually matter

We define the audience journeys, the commercial pages we are willing to defend, the SEO architecture, and the measurable outcomes. You get a shape of the project that survives feedback because it was built on evidence.

  3. 03

    Design

    Editorial system, art-directed, never templated

Type, grid, motion, and tone built as a system. We design the hero, the long pages, the unloved corners, and the empty states. Every screen looks like it belongs to the same studio. Nothing is parked for later.

  4. 04

    Build

Production code your team can keep

WordPress, Shopify, or page builder — we build clean, accessible, performant, and documented. Component-led, naming you'll recognize next year, and a changelog your in-house team can read.

  5. 05

    Launch

Migration without losing rankings or sleep

Pre-launch crawl, redirect map, schema and metadata cutover, performance baseline, and a launch playbook. We run the deploy with you, not at you.

  6. 06

    Grow

Care plan, CRO sprints, and quiet improvements

We stay involved. Monthly performance reports, security and core updates, and CRO sprints that compound. The site gets better the longer you keep us.

In their words

Senior teams who chose us.

Haxtiv replatformed our marketing site without losing a single ranking. We saw organic leads up 38% inside the first quarter and the editorial team finally has a layout system they don't fight.

Headless WordPress redesign

Our previous Shopify build was a Frankenstein of apps. The Haxtiv team simplified the stack, rebuilt the PDP and CRO patterns, and our store is faster and more profitable than it has ever been.

Frequently asked

Answers worth asking for.

Don't see the question you're holding? Send it to [email protected] and we'll answer the same day.

Both options exist. Most clients pair this service with our WooCommerce development service so the build stays in one team. If you have an internal team or another agency on the build side, we hand off Figma + tokens + specs cleanly and stay available for design review during build.
